Top 10 Batsmen of all time in Cricket - History tells us that batsmen have been dominating the game of cricket since it has been introduced. The famous names we hear from cricket background were all normally batsmen. Batsmen have created enormous records and have given a charm to the game. To become a good batsman, it’s not a piece of cake. It takes years and years of practice to become a GREAT batsman. There are few legends living amongst us and some have passed away, but their names will always remain alive in the game of cricket due to their incredible cricketing skills and performances.

The following list will only be focused on the great batsmen the world has ever seen. Players are ranked based upon their averages and the total number of runs they’ve scored. Here is the list of top 10 batsmen of all time in cricket.

 

10. Rahul Dravid:

Rahul Dravid or the very famous name “The Great Wall of India” truly deserves to be in the list due to his amazing and outstanding performances for the Indian team. He is a patient player with an outstanding defensive technique. He is one of the key batsmen for India and holds a great deal of respect for himself. His average in the tests is approximately 53 and in ODI he averages 40.

 

 

 

9. Jack Hobbs:

Jack was born in the 19th century and back in those days bowlers were the ones dominating the batsmen. Bowlers at that time averaged less than 20, which highlights the fact that batting wasn’t easy back in those days. Even then, English batsman, Jack Hobbs proved to be one of the best batsmen with an amazing eye to bat. He played only 61 matches, 15 centuries and averaged 56.94 runs. Another English player makes to the list of top ten batsmen of all time in cricket. Wally Hammond who averages 58.45 with 7,249 runs makes 8th spot. By looking at his average and the number of runs scored, he definitely is one of the greatest batsmen England has ever produced.

 

 

 

7. Jacques Kallis:

Kallis is one of the greatest and the most talented cricketers I have ever watched. He is not only a great batsman but also an amazing all rounder. In ODI’s he averages 45 and averages 55 in test cricket. He has been a great asset for the South African team for a very long time now. He is our 7th best cricketer of all time due to his remarkable performances for his country.

 

 

6. Viv Richards:

He was an aggressive player, but more of a controlled one. He is one of the greatest batsmen West Indies has ever produced. He averages of 50 runs in test cricket and in ODI’s he averages 47.

 

 

5. Brian Lara:

Brian Lara, another Caribbean hero who is widely known for the ability to play long innings in test cricket. He holds the record for highest individual runs in a test innings of 400* runs. He was a classical batsman, with God gifted cricketing skills. With his outstanding performances over and over again made him one of the greatest batsmen of the cricket world.

 

 

4. Garfield Sobers:

Garfield Sobers is not only one of the greatest batsmen in cricket history, but he is also one of the best all-rounders in cricket world. He had a great pair of hands and had an amazing class with his batting. He averages 57.78 in test cricket with a highest score of 365*, one of the highest run makers in an innings ever.

 

 


 

3. Ricky Ponting:

Ricky Ponting is a sweet striker of the cricket ball. This Australian chap is one of the popular names around the globe. He has captained the Australian team in several world cups and has won two world cups in a row for Australia. Ricky Ponting takes the 3rd position to be one of the greatest batsmen of all time.

 

2. Sir Don Bradman:

Sir Don Bradman doesn’t need any introduction. The name itself is an introduction for people. When he used to bat, it was a treat for a bowler to bowl him out, which didn’t happen much often. There was no stopping when he was batting. Sir Don Bradman averages 99.94 and that completely ends the whole story because the average itself is an introduction of him. Great Batsman!

Little master takes the number 1 position. There is absolutely no doubt that he is the top batsman the world has ever seen. With his gigantic records and performances, it is very hard to say when his records will be broken. Only Sachin Tendulkar can break his own records. Hats off to you little master!!!
